Mid November we got sick of the cold weather in Cedar and headed to St George for some warm weather fun. We went to the carosel downtown and rode it. It was so fun for the girls and was cheap too. Lexie was a little nervous at first...

We then went over to the tabernacle for a tour. The St George Tabernacle is special to my family because my great grandpa bought the windows for the building, its a really neat story and tour you should go visit ;)

We went to the Parowan pumpkin patch again this year but we went after the elementary schools went so they were really picked over! We were pretty disappointed with the selection and they went rotten after a couple days!

We ended up running to Walmart to pick up some to carve.

We went with the Princess theme this year...Here is our Cinderella and Snow White... Thanks to Aunt Sarah and Chis for helping us and letting us use their patterns!

We always love to make carmel appels in the fall after the apple fest! Here are my cute little helpers!

Much to my mother and grandmothers dismay I pierced Lexie's ears. When I pierced Lainey's ears she was about 3 and she begged to have them done, well Lexie didn't beg but she would always say "Lainey pretties" every time we would change Lainey's earrings, and I always loved when little girls had their ears pierced! My mom was upset for a while but oh well she is over it now and Lexie Lainey and I all love their earrings :)

Lexies 1st Dentist appointment

On October 1st 2011 Lexie had her first Dentist appoinment. She was a little nervous sitting in the chair all by herself so Lainey sat with her...and her baby of course. She did so great and opened wide for Dr Shaun. We love the Browns they have been our dentist since I was little.

And it helps that Grandma Jane was the assistant!

My how time flies! I often think WOW how am I the mom...really, wasnt I just the kid! And now I have a 5 year old! Lainey is such a fun daughter to have around she is so smart and loving. And she is the BEST big sister and is always looking out for Lexie! I am so grateful I was blessed with to girls to be sisters to each other!

Scrapbook Expo 2011

So I went to the Scrapbook Expo this year up in Sandy . It was a blast, I had gone to one other expo in St George before but we just went thru and looked around and shopped a little. This year we made it a three day weekend of fun! We went to a Rascal Flats/ Sarah Evans concert and then just hung out at the Expo the rest of the time. We got some amazing deals and got a little scrapbooking done.

I was a little worried about going to the expo because I didnt know anyone that we were going with except my cousin Holly, but we had a blast and all got along great and it was fun to meet such fun new friends!

Oh and these boys...cant forget the boys. Yes we are all married women with children but these boys made our trip! They run the My Minds Eye booth and they were so great to us! All the other booths are a bunch of women selling to other women but these boys made it so much more fun they would stand on chairs and hollar and do AMAZING deals! We couldnt buy anything anywhere else because they gave us such great deals!

One of the few times we were all sitting scrapping...there was just to much shopping to do!

Great trip girls cant wait to do it again next year!

Janette always has to go back to school a week before the kids start. So I usually end up tending them all day everyday for that week before they start school. This year there was 6 of them...Janettes 4 and my 2. That is a lot of kids to keep entertained from ages 11 to 3 months! So While Bryan (3mo) was asleep we decided to make angry birds. Rhett (11) didnt like the idea to much he just wanted to play the video game but once he got into it he really liked it I think. So we picked some rocks out of my driveway and painted them then we went out side and built towers out of blocks and had contests knocking them over. It was fun cheap WHOLE day entertainment!!

This year for Labor Day we stayed home and went to the parade in Parowan and watched Rachel Dance in the parade. Then we went to the carnival and Lainey got to ride her first Carnie ride!

Bates Family Reunion 2011

Every year we have a big family reunion in Gandy Utah with the Bates family reunion! There is always a ton of family there and we all have a great time. I usually take one of my sisters kids with us one at a time and they love it out there. ( not that Lainey dosnt have enough cousins to play with but the Lees beg to go with us!) This year it was Bryces turn but Rachel REALLY wanted to go (She got to go last year) so Bryce gave up his spot so his sister could go. Well it ended up we took them all. Everyone thought I was crazy to bring along 3 extra kids but they had fun...we squished all in the truck and the trailer and called it a vacation! Here they are catching crawdads...they all loved it!

Day 18...our last day on the islands :( so sad. We tried to make the best of our short day, we had to catch our flight that evening. Here are some pictures of our condo on Kauai. Everything was beautiful in all our condos!! So nice!

Day 17

Day 17 was probally my favorite of the whole trip the sights, the snorkeling, the weather ...everything was perfect. Just as it should be for our last full day in Hawaii. We found this flower in the parking lot of the grocery store just laying under the tree! So pretty!

We then headed to Ke'e beach. I had to share the houses on the way there they are crazy cool! But can you imagine carring your groceries up these stairs? AHH!! They build them up this high so they can get the trade winds to cool their house.

We packed a lunch and headed to the beach for the day. Ever since the first day we went to Ke'e beach I wanted to do the hike up the Napali coast but because of the rain people kept telling us it was to dangerous with the kids so we didnt go but the weather was finally nice enough to go today! We started out at the beach and left those that didnt want to hike there. Then we headed out

Our little trooper everyone kept commenting as we passed how great our little hikers were. They did so well! Lex just enjoied the ride here the whole time and Lainey hike the ENTIRE trip it was about 5 miles round trip!

Next we headed back to the beach for some lunch and snorkeling. We went to tunnels beach and Ke'e ...this is right where Soul Surfer was filmed!

Day 16

The whole time we were in Kauai we kept joking with the Hoyts and my family that we werent coming home and they would have to move with us because we couldnt bear moving without them. We even found us the prefect little lot! I think it would be such a fun adventure to actually move there but a lot of people would have to move with us for us to be ok!

On Day 16 we had lunch at this cute little burger joint. It was really good!

We went to the Kauai Coffee plantation to see how coffee was made and buy some gifts. There was a fun maze that went thru the coffee plants.

I dont usually drink coffee but I love the smell, I though hey this is supposto be the best coffee in the world I will have to try it. It has super fun fancy names like carmel vanilla, spiced vanilla blah blah blah so I thought hey this will be good...Casey rolled his eyes at me lol.. So I tried one and guess what it taste like dirt still. EW!!

Next stop was the Waimea Canyon or the Grand Canyon of the Pacific. It was amazing and so green. There were waterfalls going EVERYWHERE because it was such a rainy day. It was really over cast too but we hit it just at the right minute where the clouds cleared for us just a bit.

Next we went to the top of the mountain to look at the Napali coast. I was really sad that it was so overcast but we did get a little peak and saw the water for a second.

Next we went to the Hanapepe swinging bridge. It was kind of random. But it was cool to walk on, our girls got scared at first but by the end Lainey was walking by herself.

And on our way back to our condo there was the most beautiful sunset!!

Day 15

Lets see well Day 15 started out with us driving out to the lighthouse at Kilauea. It was as usual a beautiful view. I really love Kauai better than the Big Island, it is so much more relaxed and low key, its more of a small little village where as the Big Island reminds me more of home...however the Big Island had a lot of amazing views!

We were driving downtown to Kapa'a and we stoped to see this beach, the waves were HUGE and it was a little windy (no where near cedar wind!!) we saw these weird signs all along the sand so I had to get out and go see what they said...

Hmm well thats nice only a couple beaches down from where we were snorkeling lol

We next went to see more fun waterfalls..I cant remember what this one was called... SARAH??

Across the street from above waterfall was the Wialua River (Hmm maybe that was the Wialua Falls IDK) and this crazy guy was blowing on a giant seashell making all sorts of noise...the point of him was to get you to pay him to take your picture with him...we didnt we just snuck one of his backside. :)

Here Lainey decided to chase the wild chickens... this was her favorite pass time on Kauai, they were EVERYWHERE!! Even downtown at Burger King in the parking lot!

Here is the Wailua River from the lower view, we decided to take our rental cars down this super steep road to see what was at the bottom. Turns out there is a village down there! But you had to pay a ridiclous amount to walk thru it so we just looked from here and went back up, luckily we made it out.

Our next stop was the Kauai Spouting horn. Apparently there are only 3 large blowholes in the world, and so far we have been to 2 of them!. This one in Kauai the one in Ensenada Mexico and the one we have yet to see in Australia.

My dad told us we HAD to go to Lapperts Ice Cream and try the Mac Nut Ice Cream! He was right its to die for!!

Snorkeling at Poipu. It was the perfect little snorkeling beach with kids. There were no waves and it was awesome snorkeling! It was at the end of the road right by the Napali coast the view was amazing! One thing that I really wanted to do is take a boat along the Napali coast (there are no road) but you cant take kids on the boat so next time we go back it will be alone or when the kids are older so we can see that. There is also an awesome hike that starts here at Poipu that we did...pics to come later.

We went to an amazing Luau this evening also.. it was unusually rainy on our trip but it made for some amzing waterfalls.

Day 13

One of the first things we see getting into Kauai!! Im in love! Such amazing mountains!

Day 13 we took it easy some of those in our group went and floated the ditch...i thought it sounded way fun but we couldnt take lexie on it so we passed instead we went to Wialua Falls and drove around to see the country side!

Then we went to pick those others up at the ditch run Lainey and her cousin Chris had fun posing for pictures.

Well Day 13 happend to be May 11th 2011 which was Caseys 29th birthday!! What an amazing way to spend his birthday all together in paradise!! It was amazing! We went to a fancy smancy dinner that night and thanks to Jared and Sarah for tending the girls so we could have some fun!

Day 12 to Kauai

I was really worried about getting on another plane again after our trip to Hawaii! I was ready to just move there...lol well it turns out this island hop wasnt to bad. It went by quick and I was glad.

Day 11

On Day 11 we stayed fairly close to our condo and saw the sights nearby. We went to the Captain Cook Monument and looked around. We heard the kayaking and snorkeling is awesome around the monument be we didnt go out in the water we just looked. This is a picture of a Hikiau Heiau...a sacred temple. It was cool because people would leave neat seashells as offerings.

The next place we went was Pu'uhonua O Honaunau or Place of Refuge. It was where people would go live if they committed a kapu...and the would be safe.

This is a thick wall they built by hand no clay or anything to hold it together it is very thick!

There is a story of a girl that was being chased because she committed a Kapu and she sam to the refuge and hid under this rock so they wouldnt kill her.

This is the fun place we had lunch there were awesome tide pools everywhere. One is supposedly called Queens bath Im not sure which one or if we even found it but they were so pretty... I would have like to swim in them!

Next we went to the painted church. Apparently they couldnt read so the preacher painted the stories all over the walls it was ... interesting.

Last we finally found the Kona Hawaiian Temple. It is kinda hidden, you can see it from the main road but you cant get to it from there you have to go clear down around and in the residental neigbhorhood, but we finally made it. It was so pretty!

Day 10

Day 10 was another road trippin day full of beautiful sights!! As we left our condo we found this cute little guy outside our door! The picture dosnt do him justice he was BRIGHT green and so pretty!!

We stopped alongside the road for this cool picture I just thought it was so pretty!

Here is where we stopped for lunch, I was a little worried because it was just a little trailer along side the road but it was amazing Hulu Chicken and you got a whole chicken and 2 sides for like $5... super cheap.

Well our road trip lead us to Akaka Falls. There was a cool little hiking trail that you walked thru a jungle past a bunch or awesome waterfalls! It was so green and pretty! This is what I picture Hawaii to be like. AMAZING!

After Akaka Falls we went to the Thermal Heated Pools. The ocean water rolls in with the waves and gets trapped in the pool and because the Big Island is an active volcano the water is heated by lava under the pool.

We didnt swim here....if you wonder why. lol

Day 9

Well my sister asked me today if my blog was broken or if somehting was wrong with her phone because she couldnt get anything to update since our hawaii trip...well crap Im just that far behind! lol... Im not going to skip and just say this is where we are today because this is like a journal for me and I just need to catch up so Im trying....

Anyway Day 9 in Hawaii we just relaxed and took it easy after our long trip to the volcano. We went to the Orchid Show and saw some amazing flowers that we had never seen before and that we didnt even know existed!! Lainey kept saying mom take a picture of this one oh and this one...I felt kinda stupid taking pictures of all these flowers that you could buy but now Im glad that I did because I can look back and remember how pretty they were. We also went to International Market and did a little shopping and got some fun souvineers. Then we went to The Hulihe'e Palace...It was a cool palace and apparently the story is that the queen built this fancy house to impress the westerners but actually prefered to live in a hut next to the house. We went there twice wanting to go in but the first time it was just closing so we missed it and then the second time we realized that it was way expensive to go in so we just walked around and watched the dolphins in the water.

Day 8

On day 8 on the Big Island we ventured to the volcano. It was really neat to see an active volcano. It was an all day trip driving but we made some stops along the way as well.

Day 7 was spent at the beach hanging out and lots of snorkeling. I still havent gotten all of my pictures developed from my underwater camera so look for those later :)

On Day 6 we went on a road trip to Waipi'o Valley, Po'lolu overlook at the end of the road and to the famous Tex Malasada resturant. On the way back from Po'lolu Lainey had to go to the bathroom so we went in search for a bathroom. When we came upon the Keokea Beach Park where we watched the crazy surfers and waves. We saw some beautiful sights today!!

After the dolphin swim we went to Hilo Hatties (a fun souviner store) and went to shop around a little. We let Lainey open up a clam to find a pearl. Her pearl happened to have 2 in it so she was so excited. We had them made into earings.

After our day we spent the evening at our condo...here is Lainey and I on our lanai, we were watching a thunderstorm.

On day 5 we went on our dolphin snorkel. It was so awesome. I didnt get a whole lot of picture of us in the snorkel because I was to interested in catching the dolphins. This swim was so cool because they were wild dolphins not ones in a fish bowl that you could pet. We even got Lainey in the water to swim with them...and thanks to Beverly for watching the girls so Casey and I could go together.

Day 4

Well my original plan was to blog everyday while in Hawaii and document our every move Ha Ha Ha well that didnt work at all I got so busy and involved in having fun and seeing the sights that here it is a week later and I am just now getting around to it. So hopefully I can remeber everything I wanted to, Ill do my best ;)

Day 4 on the Big Island

We went to hike around the Kaloko-Honokohau National Park to see the petrohlyphs. We get out of the car and start to hike over to the sights well it starts raining a little. My parents told us all the time before we went to Hawaii that the rain there is beautiful...its a light and warm mist and it passes quickly. So we keep hiking and get deep into the lava and I keep telling everyone its Hawaii rain it will be fine lets keep going. So we do ... we get quite a ways away from the car and the rain DOSN'T STOP and its not light or warm. It was down pouring and we were all soaking wet. Here we are trying to dry out outside a store. We headed back and found a shopping center to dry out by, we found a yummy fish n chips shop had lunch and then headed out to find more adventures. We went looking for the ancient fish ponds that my dad had told us about. We finally found them and they had been washed out by the Tsunami resulting from the Japan earthquakes. There were not any fish but it was still cool to see.
After that we went down to the beach to hang out. It was so pretty...

After the beach we went down by the shops at our condo and found the live web cam...I called my parents and sisters and told them to get online so they could see us. (My parents went to this cam when they were in Hawaii and I loved being able to see them) Joey took this picutre off her computer and text it to me.

We were playing by the ocean, Lexies toes in the water having agreat time when up swims this eel and scares us half to death. It was so awesome to see him moving thru the water Im just glad I wasnt snorkeling!

After our rough day getting to the Islands we decided to take the day a little easier! We went and looked around our condo, found the swimming pools and then we and found some ancient lava tubes...however they were covered by foliage. We then played around by the ocean and looked at an ancient temple that was under construction for renovation. We enjoied lunch at Bubba Gumps over looking the ocean then went shopping at the market followed by dipping our toes in the water yet again and checking out the fish and crabs from the shore.

Day 2

Well we woke up bright and early this morning to catch our flight out of vegas to honolulu. The girls had their 1st ride. It was a 6 hour flight of misery. This was mine, lainey and lexies first time flying. Lainey did great and had a lot of fun with all the new adventures BUT it was to much for lexie. She only slept for an hour on the flight, the rest of the time was spent with me trying to calm/distract her...yes I tried benadryl...every time I would try to take a break and let casey have a turn she would scream and hold her breath! We had an hour lay over in honolulu and then flew to the big island of hawaii. When we arrived bev had us greated with leis she made lainey (and me) feel so special! I really about cried! We waited at the airport for out car then headed out. We checked into or condo and it was beautiful! Everything was perfect! We even have an awesome jet tub! We then went down to the shop n save and bought a few groceries and went straight to bed. We were beat!

Our vacation. Day 1

Today we drove down to vegas, we fly out to hawaii bright and early this morning. We have to be to the airport by 7am. Casey had trainings in california for the last couple of days so we picked him up at the so airport in vegas and spent the night with bob and bev in their amazing time share. It's quite the upscale resort! We checked in had dinner ane then walked around the pool,.lainey wanted to swim but it was really windy so we decided to take her to see the lion habitat at the mgm grand instead then we walked down to the m&m factory anf played around there for awhile. After that we just came back and went to bed. I'm so excited for the next couple of weeks...little nervous about my first time flying but hey in the end we will be in HAWAII!

We had a school day...we went to visit nettie at school and went on an easter egg hunt with her class and went to lunch.we sat on the rug and had storie time. The girls loved it...i hated it it's to real where lainey will be next year she has grown up to fast!

For Easter weekend we went on a picknick to Babalon down by Washington. It was a nice little picnick spot. We met most of the Demilles down there along with us came The Rowleys, The Lees and Grandma and Grandpa Irons and My parents!

We had a little party for Lexie on Sat April 16th. We had a lot of friends and family over for cake and ice cream on our deck. She didnt really realize what was going on but she loved the balloons and getting messy in the cake! I cant believe she is getting so big so fast! She is such a different baby than Lainey was, she is into everything and very vocal! She is such a fun girl and we love her so much! Happy birthday princess!!

I can't believe how fast my sweet little baby is growing up. I didn't have her car seat on the way home from my grandmas so I stuck her in lainey s car seat and I can't believe how big she looked! She loved being able to see out...its about time to flip her around! We go to her well baby check on the 20th and hopefully we get the thumbs up to make the flip

We went to a fun play group yesterday at our new friends eliza and jamies house. It was with all laineys friends from dance. The theme was fancy nancy. We have been reading the fancy nancy books and all the girls were so excited! We had fun fancy food everyone dressed fancy and we made fun snow globes.

Rhetts wrestling

Rhett recently started wrestling and so far if doing pretty well at it. We went out to cv to watch him today and barely missed his last match by 2 seconds. (he didn't know because we were there when he walked off the mat) but he must have done pretty well because he took 2nd in his weight! We celebrated after by going to lunch with everyone. Good job buddy:)

Well we sure had a fun st pattys day this year.lainey is starting to understand the holiday thing. She wore her cute green m&m shirt and changed her earrings to green ones then she went and picked out lexie a cute green dress. We tried all day to catch the leprechaun in our cute homemade trap that lain and lex worked hard on building together. Then that dang leprechaun turned our milk and lainey s lunch green and even got to our afternoon snack. When I went to work lainey insisted on taking her trap to grandmas so i let her and she caught the leprechaun hiding behind a pillow at grandmas she was so excited she called me at work and left a message that was so cute you could tell she was flustered it said, mom mom mom hi its lainey I love you guess what mom I caught the leprechaun mom call me back. So fun!

I had such a fun day in st george today! We went down to pick up casey from the airport and went shopping for hawaii stuff we got a lot of things we needed for the trip and I'm getting way excited! Couple random pic...i wanted these boots so bad but casey didn't like them...but themore I look at them the more I want them so I think I'll send jo back to get them...k jo ;) and we bought lexie her 1st pair of sandals so cute! Oh and a bunch of swimming suits but I don't think those are blog appropriate

Dumont 2011

We started ANOTHER new tradition with the Hoyts back in 2008 of going to Dumont sand dunes every year for Presidents day weekend. In years past we had just stayed all together in one trailer which was a lot of fun but this year we finally got our own...our families are getting bigger! My Parents and Joey and Peter were able to come down for one night and stay with us (all together in our Trailer) and we had a blast! It was so fun showing them all around the sites! My dad kept making me nervous being wild and crazy like the rest of them! On the 3rd night there it was SOOO windy and I was so scared that our trailer was going to tip over!! I got my girls out of bed and was heading to sleep in the truck! Casey went out in the rain and cold and tightened up our jacks and it seemed to help and then the wind calmed down and we were able to sleep. The next night was when my parents came and we were worried about them not sleeping well because of the wind...not to worry the wind was calm however our neighbors werent!! LOL it was still lots of fun!

Seattle

Saying good bye to dad at the airport Watching his plane take off... I must say this was so hard for me...I know lots of people think Im such a baby but I hate being home alone. This was the 1st time Casey has ever left me for more than a night alone. I balled when his plane took off, I just kept thinking so many things could go wrong while he was gone, for him or me...Lainey was so sweet and loved me and helped me so much! We were so excited when he came home!

While he was gone we went to fun time inflatables to pass the time!

Part of Caseys job is to travel around to all the other plants and check their quality of boxes so this was his 2nd trip (the first one was just up to Spanish Fork) Why is this such a big deal and blog worthy you may ask... Well Casey has never flown before, and he was going to Seattle (not a small town) all by him self and he had to find his way thru the airport and Seattle ANLONE. THose of you that know Casey well know that he is from a TINY farm town and hasnt been out much, when we got married he had only been to Las Vegas once and really not any other places. Well he survived and he did great, he is now a pro..(actually as I sit here typing this he is on another adventure in Washington...alone again...doing just fine) Im so proud of him!!

Well this trip to Washington hasnt been such a big deal...we are coping better! And we are lots busier this trip to so that helps!

Taylors Birthday Party

We went to our 1st Masquarade ball for our niece Taylors birthday! It was out in Gandy at the Border. Lainey was a little afraid at 1st because she is terrified of masks but when she found out hers was a pink sparkley one she had a blast with it and didnt take it off the whole night!!

For New Years Eve this year we went over to the Hoyts and had a party for Terrys birthday! It was a blast that family is WILD and I love it!! We played BUNCO (with the men was a blast) and then played WII Fit... It was pretty hilarious watching some of the moves the men had!!

DUE WEST and jubilee of tress

So Due West was at the Jubilee of Trees this year. I dont know if I mentioned this before but we LOVE Due West!! So actually for us this trip was a Due West concert and the Jubilee of Trees just happen to be an added bonus.
Lainey picked one tree to have her picture taken by and it happen to be the Coca Cola tree for Grandma Jane... Here is Brit and James with Tim Gates, lead singer of Due West

and here is our family with Tim. Did you know that Casey and I went to listen to him practice on our 1st Date... back before he was famous. When Tim lived in Cedar he was in a band with my now brother in law Travis (hi trav) and Casey took me into the basement of the old library and we listened to them play for awhlie followed by bowling. So thats our history with Due West...It has sentimental meaning and we love it!! Ps if you havent heard of them you should go find them they have great songs!!

Oh and Lainey loves them too...

Hoyt Gift Exchange

We started a fun new tradition with the Hoyts this year. We got together for a little family night and exchanged gifts to each other. We let the girls open their gifts early and watch each other open them. It was really fun to let them watch the other get excited about the gift they had pick out! We get along so well with theses guys and love doing everything together!

Secret Santa

Every year the Credit Union holds a fund raiser and picks a family to do a Secret Santa for, usually it is so hecktic that we end up just donating them a chunk of cash. This year we wanted to do things a little different so Kris and I decided we were going to take on the project of shopping for the family. They had 8 kids ranging from age 16 to 4. We took all our kids (and Rachel) and went shopping for the kids only, it was so much fun and I loved Lainey and Rachel learning to give to others. Honestly It was a lot of fun for Casey and I to do it as well. It made us feel so great and I hope we can do it every year!

HELPER and School Day

We went to East Elementary to see Aunt Nettie and Santas HELPER was there. Lainey got to make Gingerbread houses with the class. She was as big as the rest of them! She loved it!

The REAL Santa

Every year the Credit Union I work for has the REAL Santa come in and visit with all the kids! He is the best Santa ever!! He is really the real thing!! He has all sorts of stories and lets all the kids ask him any questions and he has the best answers. After seeing this guy Lainey knows that the rest are just HELPERS! Lexie however does not love him...
